Timor Leste In Asia Dive Expo,2011

To showcase Timor-Leste as a world diving destination, members of tour operators represented the country at Asia Dive Expo (ADEX) Event in Singapore this year.  These members were Island Explorer Holidays, Air Timor and Dive Timor-Lorosae. Their presence was to assist Timor-Leste National Tourism at the event. The three day event from 22nd – 24th April was an opportunity for Timor-Leste to promote its pristine water and abundant marine resources in order to attract international divers to experience a life time diving opportunity in Timor-Leste.

                There were about 150 exhibitors including dive equipment manufacturers,`d,sKMi C Tourism board, dive centres, dive resorts and liveboards, diver training agencies, underwater photography retailers, and marine conservation groups. Hence, it attracted a total visitor of 25,000 to the event.

                Of course, Timor-Leste’s booth did not missed out the chance. There were about 230 visitors had the opportunity to learn about Timor-Leste particularly about diving in the country. Various posters, flyers and banners on underwater Timor-Leste were specially designed and printed to decorate the booth.  Diving Timor-Leste Dvds were distributed throughout event.

                There is a quite significant increase in number of visitors to Timor-Leste compare to 2010 which had a total of 21,800. It shows that there is a growing interest to the country particularly in diving. Currently, there are 5 bookings and 8 divers planned to visit Timor-Leste as a result of ADEX Event.
